Description

Located in Landete, in the province of Cuenca, at an intermediate point between three provinces: Valencia, Cuenca and Teruel, at an altitude of 1100 metres, at the highest point. The estate has a total of 200 hectares and the winery is located in the middle of them. ALTOLANDON’s philosophy is to make quality wines and, therefore, quality grapes, which is why they take the utmost care of everything to do with the vineyard from the moment it is planted, choosing the varieties, rootstock and clones that are best suited to our climate and each type of soil.

The higher the altitude, the more and better the solar radiation and thus the greater the thermal amplitude. The higher the altitude, the more tannins. The altitude provides a refreshing effect that increases the acidity indexes thanks to the thermal amplitude. Accumulation of aromas and flavours.

The wine was made in 6,000-liter stainless steel tanks with skin contact for 2 to 3 weeks. After fermentation and pressing, the wine was transferred to third-use French oak barrels for malolactic fermentation. It was then aged for 4 months, 50% in oak barrels and 50% in amphora.

A fine example of a successful natural wine.

After admiring its beautiful, slightly pale, and subtly violet ruby color, one is then intrigued by its somewhat animal notes (fur), interwoven with fruity aromas (strawberry, blackberry, black cherry, etc.) and a hint of dried herbs. Expressing substantial freshness on the palate, this wine seems light, likely due to its partial aging in amphorae. Pleasant flavors of slightly tart wild berries. Excellent length on the finish! While it may be a little disconcerting at first, it quickly becomes enjoyable. Ultra versatile at the table, it pairs well with just about anything that complements red wine, from grilled poultry to beef. Serve slightly chilled.
