Description
Federico is the third generation of De Cerchio family in Villamagna (Abruzzo). After wanderings and studies in Germany, Sweden, and Rome, among other countries, he settled in 2018 at the company founded by his grandfather, the Torre Zambra winery. Although the scale of production has increased significantly over the years and growth continues under Federico’s leadership, the original principles of grandfather Vincenzo are still adhered to: spontaneous fermentation, slow aging in cement and wooden barrels, consideration of the specific terroir of Villamagna, and respect for nature. Recently, all wines have been certified organic and vegan.
The wine is aged for a year in concrete tanks and two months in the bottle before release. It has an intense red color and aromas of cherries, berries, and blueberry jam. It is soft and fruity, with a hint of licorice on the finish. Delicious with soft cheeses, vegetable stews, light meat dishes, and also very tasty with rabbit leg.The nose is defined by tart, sweet and floral aromas of blackberry tea, sour cherry, red plum, blood orange peel and topsoil. Those high-toned fruit notes stay bright, crunchy and tangy on the palate, but round, polished tannins and a bitter, herbal finish provide richness and elegance that elevate this wine beyond the everyday.
