Description
Mas Mallola is our ”Wine of the Village” or in Catalan ”Vi di Vila”. It expresses the specificity and essence of the town of Porrera. It is the wine born from the “La Mallola” estate, the highest of Marco Abella located at an altitude of 750 meters above sea level. The ripening of the grapes is slow and progressive, which results in a very balanced, fine and elegant wine. It has a point of salinity thanks to the influence of the sea breeze coming from the Mediterranean which is only 10 km away.
The wine is made up of 70% Grenache and 30% Carignan. Due to the difference in the degree of ripeness of the grapes between the upper and lower parts of the vineyard, the La Mallola estate is divided into several zones that are harvested and fermented separately (micro-vinifications). Once the fermentations in oak vats are complete, the wines are aged in French oak barrels for 13 months. Mas Mallola displays an intense fruity aroma with notes of fresh strawberries, raspberries, cherries and flowers that predominate, but you can also find touches of anise, fennel, and sweet vanilla. It remains fresh and pleasant on the palate with velvety tannins, a medium-long finish.
